Just a young boy, Bomani’s life long goal was to uphold a promise made to his deceased father, to become the Man of the family. This meant being a supportive and protective provider for the family but his perception of family extended to those he grew up doing mischievous deeds with in the streets. Bomani wound up being convicted of a crime that he did not commit, an attempted murder of a cop. The novel goes through the mind of the supposed “criminal” as he tries to prove his innocence and figure out who was behind the whole plot to set him up for the crime.
Based on a true story, Usia Sondai handwrote this particular novel diving into the experiences and tribulations he faced while serving time. At one point, Sondai discovered that his original copy of this novel was thrown away during a cell move. Determined to share his story and message with the world, he rewrote, by memory, 200 plus pages on binder paper and kept it safe until he was finally free.
